Basset Hound
Basset Hounds are easily recognized by their long, droopy ears and wrinkled foreheads, giving them a distinctive, mournful expression. Originally bred in France for hunting, they have an incredible sense of smell, second only to the Bloodhound. Basset Hounds are friendly, easygoing dogs that get along well with children and other pets. They are known for their laid-back nature but require regular exercise to prevent obesity. Their coat is short and relatively easy to care for, though their long ears require regular cleaning to prevent infections. Basset Hounds can be prone to back issues due to their long spine and short legs.
