Akita
Akitas are large and powerful dogs with a noble and intimidating presence. They originated in Japan, bred to protect royalty and nobility in feudal times. Akitas are known for their loyalty to their family, often wary of strangers making them excellent watchdogs. They have a thick double coat that can handle very cold climates. Akitas require firm training from an early age and socialization to develop well-rounded personalities. They are generally healthy but can be prone to certain genetic conditions like hip dysplasia and thyroid disorders. Their grooming needs are moderate but include regular brushing to manage shedding.
